The residents of Kathwana are a happy lot after the County Government of Tharaka Nithi issued 1 Million cheque to commence construction of a new dispensary in the area.
This was evident during the presentation ceremony presided over by the County executive committee member in charge of health (CEC) Magdalene Njeru at Kathwana Market in Chuka-Igamba Ng’ombe constituency .
For four years the residents have remained without a health facility after the previous building used as Kathwana Dispensary were incorporated as temporary offices for the county headquarters.
Speaking during the event, the CEC said that the government owed the people of Kathwana after they sacrificed the building which was situated at the same site set aside for headquarter offices.
“You have showed your selflessness and that is why we could not have wasted any more time to thank you and ensure that we not only replace what you had but build a big health facility meant to serve county headquarters and its environs,” she emphasized.
She said that residents of Kathwana have been travelling over long distances to seek medical attention which was life threatening.
The CEC also cautioned against disunity and wrangles on the project saying the committee would need a lot of support and cooperation to ensure standard work was delivered.
“We have witnessed many development projects get stalled due to malicious claims and politics by the community or committee and we would not want to see a replica of the same here,” she added.
Since devolution, the county government of Tharaka Nithi has done its absolute best in the achievement of development in health sectors through the construction of over 53 dispensaries to help bring health services closer to mwananchi.
Chuka/Igambang’ombe constituency residents have appreciated this noble gesture and accepted to work hand in hand with the county government in development projects through successful working relations to see the completion of this and other health facilities
